Before we even found out Preston was a boy, I already had my heart set on the jungle blanket set by Carter's from Target, if we were to have a boy. I just thought it was the cutest thing. The bright greens and blues with all the cute fuzzy animals was the perfect theme for a little boy nursery.Simon and I started our registry awhile back, but never went back to check on it until last Friday, when we decided to go for a walk at Target to try to appease our stuffed tummies after pigging out at Black Angus. We print out our existing registry, ask for a scan gun and off we go, into the land of baby stuff galore. Lo and behold, the Carter's bedding section is completely gone. At first we thought they were just rearranging, but no, after perusing the whole baby section, all we found were half open packages on the endcap clearance shelves.
After talking with the people at Guest Services and spending 30 minutes on the phone with Target headquarters, the dreaded news was confirmed. They have discontinued my dream line of bedding for Preston. Whatever they have left in the stores is what they have. Nothing in stock in their warehouses, nothing in stock to buy from online. Once it's gone, it's gone.Don't they know they are not supposed to do this to pregnant hormonal women? I was so annoyed and mad and sad all at the same time that I couldn't even sleep. HeeHee...thanks Anny for venting with me...
So early Saturday morning, Simon and I wake up and scour all the neighborhood Targets' clearance aisles. Between different stores, we were able to find the comforter, the crib bumper, 3 sets of crib sheets, and the mobile. OK, so we were pretty lucky in finding all the essentials. But the cute matching blankets with the matching embroidered animals were gone. So was the stuffed giraffe musical pull toy (my favorite). I did find the matching scrapbook for $5, but the other coordinating albums were gone. Sigh, I wish I had known back in Decmeber, when EVERYTHING was in stock, that this would happen. I would have bought everything all at once...the complete set, and be happy. Oh well, at least we decided to go to Target when we did, otherwise, we wouldn't be able to find anything. Providence works in its own way, somehow. The things we do for our kids...and they're not even here yet~! OK, so maybe this is for mommy's own decorating desires, but still, I just want him to have a cute nursery =) Here are some pictures of the comforter. I love the giraffe and zebra...those are my two favorites.
BTW, from our observations, we have theorized that the reason Target is discontinuing this exclusive line from Carter's is because through Target's own brand, Circo, they have made the exact same bedding set, just not as good quality and not as cute. Simon even picked up the wrong brand, thinking it was what we wanted...The colors, the design, everything is just way too similar for coincidence.

hi tracy, there is a Carter's store in fremont off of 880. The store is pretty big, so im pretty sure they would have this bedding set. Let me know if you need directions.
hey girls, thanks for the suggestions. actually, because this set is licensed exclusively through Target, they won't be selling it anywhere else. I already called Carter's headquarters and had a long discussion with the guy. I tried eBay, too, without any luck. But at least I got the basics~!
